Improving Urban Ecosystems by Increasing the Number of Vegetated Roofs
Sukopová, Dagmar
Urban ecosystems are often characterised by a lack of greenery. This results in a deteriorating environment for citizens, but also in the extinction of many animal and plant species. One solution that is being offered is to gradually increase the areas covered by vegetation, especially on buildings that are often otherwise unused. The article analyses the possibilities of using all possible green areas with practical examples.
The use of GIS for the design of blue-green infrastructure
Indrová, Gabriela ; Dráb, Aleš (referee) ; Duchan, David (advisor)
This thesis deals with the description of blue-green infrastructure and its elements. A number of good examples from Czech Republic and abroad are presented. It is followed by an introduction to the GIS software, where are described the basic tools and analyses, together with possible applications. The last part of this work deals with a selected location. In conclusion, for this location were created cartographic outputs describing the existing and planned MZI.
Rehabilitation of sewer networks with the implementation of elements for rainwater management
Brychta, Kryštof ; Malaník, Stanislav (referee) ; Raclavský, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis focused on the possibilities of rehabilitation of the sewer network with the implementation of rainwater management elements (HDV), respectively blue-green infrastructure (MZI). In the first part of the thesis, the most used rehabilitation methods are reviewed and the rainwater management respectively blue-green infrastructure elements are divided and described. In the second practical part of the thesis, the acquired knowledge is applied to the study of the rehabilitation of the sewer network with the implementation of elements for rainwater management in the street Pod Soudním vrchem in Znojmo. A suitable rehabilitation technology (CIPP lining) was designed and economically evaluated for the site of interest and elements for rainwater management (two underground retention tanks and one underground infiltration retention tank) were designed and implemented, for which investment costs associated with the construction were determined.
Technical solutions for blue-green infrastructure in cities
Císařová, Monika ; Macsek, Tomáš (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with knowledge in the field of rainwater use in cities. Inclusion of the term blue-green infrastructure and a description of the design technical elements used for efficient rainwater management in urban areas. The practical part proposes the solution of the elements of the blue-green infrastructure on Údolní Street in the city of Brno with the requirements of the utility network administrators and the sewer network operator BVK, a.s ..
Nature-friendly measures in the urban city of Brno
Svobodová, Lenka ; Zedník, Ondřej (referee) ; Kriška-Dunajský, Michal (advisor)
The thesis is focused on climate change impact in cities. In its first general section various nature-based adaptation solutions for urban areas are presented. Functional instances of finished implementations from city of Brno are named. The second, practical, section a particular proposal of nature-based solution for Brno by partial revitalization of Svratka river and its surrounding area is shown. The feasibility is supported by 1D and 2D numerical models. Crucial output of the work are technical drawings and flood simulation maps.
Study New Šámalova
Pasierb, Michal ; Nykodým, Jakub (referee) ; Kosňovský, Michal (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to design Nová Šámalova Street in the former Zbrojovka Brno area. Three variants of the central collector road, including their mutual comparison, are proposed. The main purpose of the design is to meet the need for an urban boulevard due to anticipated construction within the next ten years and its connection to the surrounding road network.
Rainwater management in urban areas
Haška, Aleš ; Malaník, Stanislav (referee) ; Raclavský, Jaroslav (advisor)
The thesis focuses on the issue of stormwater management in urban areas with a focus on vegetated roofs . In this paper, testing of vegetated roof compositions at the DERIC experimental centre is published. The compositions are tested here to refine the existing knowledge on the behaviour of vegetated roofs in real environments. The existing knowledge of vegetated roof compositions is presented. The paper also explains how to input these specific vegetated roof compositions into the LID (Low Impact Development) module, which is part of the SWMM (Storm water management model) program. For each roof, parameters were compiled during which the simulated composition showed the greatest agreement with the measured data. After a satisfactory match, two compositions were selected and implemented in a specific area. For the specific area, there is already a rainfall-runoff model built from a previous research project, but new sub-catchments needed to be generated for this model and this was achieved using the PYTHON programming language. Subsequently, analyses of runoff reduction from the area of interest were performed.
Stormwater management within the blue-green infrastructure of cities
Vojvodík, David ; Raček, Jakub (referee) ; Hlavínek, Petr (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the use of elements of blue-green infrastructure in the built-up area. In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis, research focused on the current state of rainwater management in urbanized settlements is processed. The work also deals with current legislation in the given sector and subsidy titles that can be used for building elements of blue-green infrastructure. Individual objects of rainwater management and the principles of their design are also described. In the practical part of the work, two different variants of the drainage of the industrial area are solved, on which the theoretical principles of rainwater management of the mentioned part are applied. As a result is an objective comparison of variants from the point of view of ecology, economy and functionality.
